The event planning industry is constantly evolving, and staying ahead of the curve means embracing the newest tools and technologies. For the Joe Lewis Company that means using OnePlan, the comprehensive event planning platform. We spoke to Nouhad Captan, Operations Lead at the Joe Lewis Company, about how our web platform has transformed their event planning process across a wide range of events.
The Joe Lewis Company specializes in live events, production, entertainment, sports, music, red carpets, movie premieres, and more. As Nouhad explains, “We’re very diversified in what we do, so a lot of the different projects you never really know what you’re going to work on. That’s what I love about working here.”
Better communication across a diverse range of projects
Before switching to OnePlan, Nouhad used Google and Apple Pages for creating basic maps. Now, he relies on OnePlan for creating maps and various event planning needs. One example of this is for the GRAMMY Awards, where the agency uses OnePlan to share infrastructure placement maps with partners, eliminating the need for site visits and saving valuable time.
OnePlan has significantly improved how the Joe Lewis Company communicates with vendors and suppliers at the events they plan. As Nouhad states, “OnePlan has allowed me to just show our partners the map, and the map will speak for itself. I don’t have to go into detail and give directions on placements.
“I just show them the map plan, and it means we can communicate less as the map has the details,” Nouhad adds.
"You don't have to fly somebody somewhere to pull a tape measure out and get measurements on site. You can do it right there from your computer."

Generating client proposals with OnePlan
One of the most beneficial ways that the Joe Lewis Company uses OnePlan is to generate detailed and visually appealing client proposals. One such example is when the Joe Lewis Company was bidding on a project that involved converting a stadium into a three basketball court setup with bleachers, signage, and branding opportunities.
Using OnePlan, Nouhad was able to build a visual plan to present during the pitch meeting, showing how the stadium could be transformed to accommodate the client’s needs. He explains, “We laid out basketball courts from the CAD files, and then built bleachers in OnePlan with the right amount of seating.”
Additionally, they were looking for player benches and wanted to ensure everything would fit within the stadium. With OnePlan, they were able to confirm that everything would indeed fit.
OnePlan’s ‘Image Pin’ function proved invaluable in demonstrating branding opportunities to the potential client. This feature enables users to upload a photo or graphic to show a real-world item in that specific location on the map. Nouhad used this feature to show what branding elements would look like on the court, providing the client with a clear visualization of the final setup.
Using OnePlan for indoor and outdoor event planning
OnePlan’s adaptability and accuracy have proven to be invaluable for both indoor and outdoor event planning at the Joe Lewis Company. Nouhad shared his experience of planning the Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet, where the platform’s features allowed them to create an “as-built” design. He explains, “We had the CAD file dropped in, and I changed the opacity, then I laid out everything as per the Vectorworks file – but then on-site, if something shifted, I was able to shift it easily in OnePlan.”
This adaptability not only allows for a more accurate reflection of the event setup but also ensures that future events can be planned with confidence. Nouhad continues, “So now, next time we go back to Vegas for the Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet, we have it in OnePlan ‘as-built’, meaning the measurements there are guaranteed.
“Thanks to OnePlan, I know exactly with confidence where things are going to land on our plan.” This level of precision is a key function of OnePlan, giving event planners like Nouhad the assurance that their plans will accurately translate to the real world.
Virtual site visits to save time and money
OnePlan has saved time and money for how the Joe Lewis Company plans events, by eliminating the need for site visits and providing accurate measurements. Nouhad says, “You don’t have to fly somebody somewhere to pull a tape measure out and get measurements on site. You can do it right there from your computer in OnePlan.”
Nouhad and his team’s experience with OnePlan demonstrates the power and versatility of the event planning platform. By improving communication, streamlining processes, and saving time and money, OnePlan has become an indispensable tool for the Joe Lewis Company.
Nouhad appreciates the ease of onboarding with OnePlan, as well as the platform’s adaptability. At OnePlan we’re on a continuous journey of product improvement and we rely on our users like Nouhad to help guide improvements.
Nouhad says, “For me, an important part of the process is that they’re involving the users and helping guide them to which way OnePlan ends up serving the end users.”
Most recently, the Joe Lewis Company are using OnePlan to create detailed site plans for two major global sporting events coming to Los Angeles in the near future. With its precision and ease of use, OnePlan ensured efficient planning and seamless execution for these high-profile events.
